Warszawa-Babice airport is located on the territory of Bemowo district and for this reason its unofficial name is Bemowo Airport (Lotnisko Bemowo). Among the users of the airport there are Warsaw Flying Club and Air Medical Emergency Service.
During World War I the site was used as a landing strip for German and Russian airplanes. From 1918, when Poland regained independence, the site was used by the Institute of Aviation Technology. Currently, a few schools offering civil aviation courses operate on the grounds of the airport. The airport is also used to hold mass public events.
