In this location on August 15, 1944 7 members of the crew of Liberator KG-836 airplane from the bomber squadron 31 of the South African Air Force (SAAF) died while delivering supplies to insurgents fighting in the Warsaw Uprising. The airplane crashed into houses at Miodowa street in the Old Town of Warsaw. Apart from the crew, 7 civilians and 3 soldiers of the Home Army (AK) died in the disaster.
