Franciszka Żwirki and Stanisława Wigury avenue

They earned fame and renown with their victory in the International Competition of Tourist Planes in Berlin in 1932.

Franciszek Żwirko (1895–1932) and Stanislaw Wigura (1901–1932) met in the Academic Flying Club of Warsaw in 1929. Already then Franciszek Żwirko was a professional military pilot and Stanisław Wigura was a student learning about flying. In his free time he used to design aircraft. Together they participated in many races and flying competitions. To this day August 28 is the holiday of Polish aviation.
